The Asian American Music Society's International Competition is a unique competition for Elementary, Middle and High School Students and is open to everyone, not only Asians or Americans. There are three divisions based on grade. Participants are encouraged to perform works by Asian composers.
There are three competition divisions: The Peewee Division is for elementary school students, grades one through five. The Peewee Division is for woodwinds, piano, and string instruments. Participants are required to offer two contrasting pieces from appropriate repertoire totaling no more than five minutes. The Junior Division is for middle school students, grades six through eight. The Junior Division is for woodwinds, piano, and string instruments. Participants are required to offer two contrasting pieces from appropriate repertoire totaling no more than eight minutes. The Senior Division is for high school students, grades nine through twelve. The Senior Division is for woodwinds, piano, string instruments, and voice. The Senior Division is the only division with a voice category. Participants are required to offer two contrasting pieces from appropriate repertoire totaling no more than ten minutes. |
Back to School, it is the time for the AAMS Competition! 2023 AAMS competition for Piano, String, Woodwind, and Voice for K to 12th grades will be in Person. The application deadline is Saturday, October 7th.
Each Family completes and submits the application after getting approval on repertoire and readiness from me. The competition will be held on Saturday, October 21st. Location TBA --possibly at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

· Senior division (9 to 12th): Two contrasting pieces no more than 10 minutes
IMPORTANT PARKING NOTES. there is limited street parking, however the Cordell-St. Elmo public garage is two blocks away. There’s also occasional space in front of the 7611 Clarendon Church House.
